We'd love for you to enjoy your entire experience shopping for the perfect gown, from your first visit to your final fitting. Here are a couple of tips to help make the most of your shopping experience with us:

Q: Do I need an appointment to try on wedding gowns? If so, how do I schedule an appointment?

A: Yes. So that we can give each bride our undivided attention, appointments are necessary. We are an appointment-only bridal salon and cannot accommodate walk-ins. Appointments are available Tuesday - Sunday. To schedule your appointment please call, (718)-643-1680 or request an appointment through our site or via email, bridal@michellenewyork.com.  If you would like a weekend or late night appointment, we suggest booking at least one week in advance.

Q: How long are appointment times?

A: We allot 30 minutes for your bridal appointment. Because we offer a well-edited collection, all gowns are out for browsing, and we have found 30 minutes is the perfect amount of time to select your favorites, try them on and ask any questions.

Q: What should I bring to my appointment?

A: Bring pictures of dresses you've seen on our website, in magazines (like NY Weddings magazine) or elsewhere. And bring an open mind, don't be surprised if you find "the one" on your first visit to Michelle New York Brides. Also, we recommend that you bring a strapless bra and/or shoes with the desired heel height that you plan to wear on your wedding day. These will help you to envision yourself more clearly on your special day!

Q: What is the price range of your gowns?

A: Our gowns range from about $1200 to $5,000.

Q: What size gowns are available for me to try on?

A: Most of our samples range in size between 8-12.

Q: Who should I bring to my appointment?

A: Bring your closest friend or family member whose opinion you value and who knows you well and with whom you want to share the experience of buying your gown. We suggest no more than 3 people accompany you to your appointment, this prevents from taking the focus off of you.

*As an intimate bridal salon, we look forward to bringing all of our brides a wonderful experience, so please no food, drink, or dogs allowed. We also find it difficult to accommodate having small children since we have heavy mirrors and lots of straight pins….safety first! If you have any extenuating circumstances, please call first and we will help you to schedule a time that will best accommodate your needs.

Q: May I take photos of the gowns while I try them on?

A: Yes, you may take photos of yourself in the gowns that you try on during your appointment.

Q: Can I complete my entire look in one appointment?

A: Absolutely! We carry stunning accessories (veils, headpieces, shoes, jewelry, etc) to help you achieve your ultimate bridal look for your wedding day.

Q: Do I need to make an appointment to look at accessories?

A: Yes, appointments are required for all accessories (veils, headpieces, shoes, jewelry, etc).

Q: When should I order my gown?

A: Dresses can take up to 4-5 months to produce since it is being made to order. When you factor in shipping and alterations, it could be a 6 month total process. We suggest deciding on a dress 6-9 months prior to your wedding date, so you have time built in for fittings, as 2-3 fittings are normally needed,  and accessorizing. There are rush options for weddings under 6 months, but rush fees do apply.

Q: What is a rush order?

A: If your wedding gown is ordered in less time than we typically need to have a gown made, approx 16 weeks, then your gown order is a "rush order" and there is an additional fee.

Q: Will I need alterations?

A: We like to have you order your gown as close to your current size as possible, but all bridal gowns need alterations to give it the perfect fit for your wedding day.

Q:  Do you offer alterations? What is the cost?

A: Yes, we offer in-house alterations on all of our bridal gowns. Our standard alteration fee is $500. This usually includes all basic alterations (taking in sides, zippers, basic neckline details, hems, etc.) and 2-3 fitting appointments, as needed. Any additional alterations (bead work, elaborate changes to sleeves, necklines, skirt, etc.) that go above and beyond our basic alterations are priced separately.

Q: When would I begin my dress fittings?

A: We provide tentative fitting dates at the time that you order your gown. We recommend fittings begin at least 4-6 weeks before your wedding day.

Q: Can I get a color swatch of my gown?

A: Yes, a complimentary swatch of your gown will be given upon request.

Q: What should I bring to my first fitting?

A: You should bring shoes and undergarments that you'll wear on your wedding day in order to have your gown fit through the bodice and hemline. Undergarments (bras, SPANX, etc) are available for purchase through Michelle New York Brides prior to or at your first fitting.

Q: When should I pick-up my gown?

A: If you're local, your gown may be stored in our salon until the day before or the day of your wedding. If you're not local, you may schedule pick-up or shipping of your gown at your convenience.

Q: Will you ship my gown out of state for me?

A: Yes, we can ship your dress anywhere you'd like. Shipping fees apply.

Q: How do I pay?

A: We accept American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa, as well as cash and personal checks. (Personal checks are only accepted for deposit, not final payment)

We require a minimum 50% deposit at the time that you place your order on all 'Michelle New York Brides' label gowns. Your remaining balance is due at your first fitting.

We require gowns ordered from outside designers (i.e. Nicole Miller etc) be paid in full at the time of order. Alteration payments are due at your first fitting.

If you've requested that we ship your gown out of state, your balance must be paid in full before it can be shipped.

Q: Do you have dresses for bridesmaids, mothers-in-law, and mother-of-the-bride?

A: Yes. We will be more than happy to assist you in finding the perfect evening wear for your entire bridal party.
